Hazel Hamilton Turner of Glasgow died Wednesday December 20, 2006 at the Caverna Hospital. After 93 years Aunt Hazel left this place and has gone to a better place to be with her Lord. She was born in Metcalfe County the daughter of the late Bertha Lee Martin Hamilton who died when Hazel was only 5 years old. After her mothers death, she and her brothers made their home with grandparents, Greenwood and Ida Martin. Mrs. Turner spent 43 years of her life working at Ky. Pants Factory in Glasgow. She believed in keeping busy and her favorite hobby and passion was quilting. After retirement, she continued to make clothing for herself, family and others. In later years she picked up bowling as a hobby and enjoyed going with her family and friends. She frequented the Beaver Trail Walking Track with her dear friend Mamie Shives who was also her bowling buddy. Christmas was a special time; her family knew they would be gitting their favorite baked cookies, cakes and candy made especially for them. Aunt Hazel lived her last few months at Hart County Health Care Facility where she met new friends and was cared for by wonderful people. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband John Turner; brothers Roy Heston Hamilton and Carlous Hamilton and a nephew Billy H. Hamilton. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She would always say after we had visited with her, as Clint Eastwood would say; 'you have made my day.' We hope we have honored Aunt Hazel and made her last day here special. Funeral services will be 2pm Friday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5pm Thursday.
