Helen Birge

Helen Maxine Birge 60 of Glasgow, KY died Sunday August 29, 2004 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Barren County the daughter of the late Wendell and Lida Mae Buckley McGuire. Mrs. Birge was a homemaker and had been a seamstress at Handmacher for a number of years and an employee of Jeff's Country Florist for 4 years. She was a member of the Temple Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Delbert Birge; 1 son Kevin Birge and wife Donna of Glasgow; 1 daughter Margie DeWanna Gentry and husband Mark of Hardyville; 4 grandchildren Matthew and Maegan Gentry and Amber and Brittany Birge; 2 brothers Mike Reid McGuire and wife Margaret of Beaumont and Carl C. McGuire and wife Wanda of Glasgow; 2 sisters Mary Lou Birge and husband William of Glasgow and Donnie Sue Kidd and husband Gerald of Glasgow; Her uncle and aunt Lawrence and Jean Buckley of Glasgow and her caregiver Emogene Button. A brother Leon McGuire preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday September 1, 2004 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00am Tuesday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to either the T. J. Samson Hospice Program, 1301 N. Race St., Glasgow, KY 42141 or the American Cancer Society.
