Helen Matthews

Helen Elizabeth Matthews 61 of Glasgow died Tuesday September 29, 2009 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital after an auto accident Tuesday in Barren County. She was born in Barren County the daughter of the late Joe and Mae Elizabeth Wilkinson Matthews. Helen had worked in Washington, DC and locally for Larry Garmon, Atty. and the Glasgow Daily Times. She was a volunteer for the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library and wrote a weekly book review for the Glasgow Daily Times Sunday paper. Survivors include an aunt June Mathews and husband Leroy of Glasgow; an uncle Jessie Lee Wilkinson and wife Louise of San Antonio, TX and several cousins including, Larry Matthews, Kelly (Nancy) Mathews and Terry (Vickie) Mathews all of Glasgow; Tracy (Mary Ann) Mathews of Harrodsburg and Nancy (John) Smith, Susan (Greg) Mims and Bill (Tura) Wilkinson all of San Antonio, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Louise Matthews. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday October 1, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library.
