Helen Jewell Matthews Taylor 96 of Chandler Park Assisted Living in Bowling Green and formerly of Glasgow died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Greenview Regional Hospital surrounded by her caregiver son and his family. She was the 7th of 13 children of the late James Brent Matthews and Mary Ellie Houchens Matthews and the wife of the late William Edward 'Ed' Taylor. She was also preceded in death by 7 sisters, Laura Alice Claspell, Elizabeth Ritter, Katherine Everett, Ida Sisco, Edith Frances Piercy, Lillian Harrison and Dorothy Jean 'Bobbie' Huddleston; 4 brothers Ernest, Hal, Kenneth and Billy Matthews; 1 son Joe Robert Taylor and 2 grandchildren Troy Neal Taylor and Barry Alan Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a former employee of Handmacher in Glasgow and was a long time member of the Glasgow Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing Rook with her friends and neighbors, loved giving to others and always worried about her family. The loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and caring friend will be greatly missed. She is survived by 2 sons, her caregiver Kenneth (Ella) Taylor and Harold (Mary Jane) Taylor both of Bowling Green; a sister Louise Bartlett of Lafayette, IN; 4 grandchildren Perry and Carla Taylor, Toy Baker and Penni Warren; 6 great grandchildren Weston and Brittany Taylor, Shandi Paro, Matthew Harmon, and David and Taylor Jane Baker. Several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, January 10th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2pm until 8pm.
