Henry Troy Basil 81 of Glasgow died Tuesday May 9, 2006 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Oris Stanford Basil and Nellie Mae Walden Basil. Mr. Basil was an employee of Southern Explosives Company in Glasgow and was a member of the Clifton Baptist Church in Louisville. He was the founder of the Gospel Troubadors and was known as the 'Blind Troubador.' Survivors included his wife Ada Winters Basil; a son Troy Nathan Basil and wife Linda of Glasgow; 2 daughters Ellen Mae Harper and husband Kenny of Horse Cave and Mary Margaret Basil and son Jamie Clifton Basil of Glasgow; a daugher-in-law Beverly Basil of Glasgow; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 4 sisters Virginia Bunnell of Horse Cave, Margie Houchens of Park City, Ima Deloris Sexton of Glasgow and Patricia Ann Bragg of Cave City and by 2 brothers Oris Eugene Basil of Glasgow and James Benton Basil of Park City. In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Oris Thomas Basil, a grandson Billy Allen Basil, 2 brothers LeeRoy Basil, Ray Eagle Basil and a sister Bertha Matthews. Funeral services will be 2:00pm on Thursday May 11, 2006 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to help defray funeral expenses.
