Henry Staples

Henry Ellison Staples 96 of Glasgow died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Henry Thomas and Minnie Huff Staples. Henry worked for Farmers Rural Electric Co-op Corp. and retired after 42 years of service. He and his crew ran electric lines and set poles all over Barren and surrounding counties. He was liked and respected by all. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII stationed with the Marines. He ran communication lines all over the South Seas islands including Leyte, Okinawa, Japan and Philippines. He was a member of the Church of God. He is survived by 3 sons James Ellison Staples (Doris) and Jerry Wayne Staples (Wanda) both of Glasgow and Bobby Lee Staples (Joan) of Louisville; 3 grandchildren Christopher Staples of Glasgow and Gregory Staples (Brittney) and Matthew Staples of Louisville; great-grandchildren Grayson Olivia, Reese Morgan and Gabrielle all of Louisville; 2 brothers Follis Staples (Barbara) and Milburn Staples (Geneva) of Glasgow; 2 sisters Peggy Polson (Howard) of Scottsville and Bess Riddle of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife Vesta Mae Dallas Staples, two brothers Leroy and David Staples and two sisters Mary Lois Perkins and Madell Bagby. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, November 29th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 3pm until 8pm and Sunday morning until time for the service.
