Herbert Pursley

Herbert Lee 'Hub' Pursley and Geneva Traylor Pursley died Tuesday October 2, 2004 after an automobile accident in Barren County. Mrs. Pursley died at the scene of the accident and Mr. Pursley died later at the Vanderbilt Trauma Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday November 7, 2004 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00pm Friday Nov. 5th at the funeral home. 'Hub' as he was known to his friends was the former Superintendant of the Glasgow Water Co. and Chairman of the State Board of Health for Water Certification in Frankfort, KY. He also taught Sanitation Engineering for the Environmental Protection Agency and was a veteran of WWII. Geneva was a wonderful mother and housewife and his loving compainon of 63 years, an aniversary they celebrated last May. They were members of the East Main St. United Methodist Church. They are survived together by their daughter Dawn Goodrum and husband David of Glasgow; their son Mike Pursley and wife Karen of Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren Michael David Goodrum and Matthew Benjamin Goodrum and Mike's fiance Christy all of Glasgow, Julie Pursley Oelschlager and husband Todd of Franklin, IN, and Michael Todd Pursley and wife Jennifer of Goodlettesville, TN, 2 great granddaughters Hannah Louise Oelschlager of Franklin, IN and Dalton Ann Pursley of Goodlettesville, TN and a very special friend Barbara Pursley Messer of Indianapolis, IN. Geneva is survived by 2 sisters Mabel Traylor Peden of Glasgow and Izene Traylor Mackey of Daytona Beach, FL and seven nieces and nephews, Nikki P. Norman of Orlando, FL, Jerry Mackey, David Mackey, Steve Mackey, Darla M. Decker, Linda M. Warren and Dianne M. Lowery all of Florida and Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teller Traylor and Lennie Robert Janes Traylor. Hub is survived by a sister Pauline Pursley Wells of Gallatin, TN, a brother Harry Bryant Pursley of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews, Lougene Wells Sims, Phillip Pursley, Carla P. Jones, Tommy Tipton, Joyce T. Kohl, Garland Pursley, Penny Pursley, Roxanne P. Cirracco, Connie P. Lyon, and Shelia P. Bunch. He was preceded in death by his parents Joshua Sherman Pursley and Mattie Mora Stringfield Pursley, 2 sisters Virginia P. Tipton and Lougene Pursley, 4 brothers James Robert Pursley, the Rev. Elmer Garland Pursley, Haskel Clay Pursley and Donald Ray Pursley.
