Holly Jeanne Buckles, 47, died Sunday, Aug. 7th, 2016, at her home. She was born Friday, Dec. 13th, 1968, in Bowling Green, KY, to Dr. James Reno and Gladys Wood Buckles.Holly collected friends like others collect stamps or baseball cards, and she claimed numerous ones among her 'family' at Caneyville Christian Church and in the community. She was a regular 'grand marshal' at the annual Caneyville Fair Parade, and the years she rode in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' General Lee car became a special memory for her.She had a gift for absorbing the fine details of maps, and, although she had never visited, could describe with accuracy the locations of landmarks in such cities as Los Angeles and New York City. She loved watching television, particularly 'Dancing With The Stars,' and also loved taking a spin on the dance floor during wedding celebrations. There was a time period during which Holly enjoyed professional wrestling, but she paradoxically strongly disliked conflict and disagreements.A day without Pringles potato chips was not a good day for Holly.Routine and consistency did make a great day, however. She worked hard to keep everything in its proper place and be a good housekeeper. And every Saturday night, like clockwork, Holly would retrieve her Bible and put it in a special place to get it ready for the next day at church. She'd faithfully write her offering check and make sure she had a dollar beside it for the Sunday School offering.Holly was proud to claim the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, and strongly believed in angels, who likely danced with her into the 'souls' bright home' on Sunday morning, Aug. 7th.She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. James Reno Buckles; paternal grandparents Henry Hugh Buckles Sr. and Madeline Nettie Taylor Buckles; maternal grandparents William S. Wood and Rachel Evans Wood; and a niece, Allison Wood Stinnett.Survivors include: Her mother, Gladys Buckles of Caneyville; two sisters, Merry Lynn Green (Hub) of Caneyville and Donna B. Stinnett (Chuck) of Henderson, KY; two brothers, Dennis Buckles (Teresa) of Caneyville and Allan Buckles (Marty) of Leitchfield; four nephews, Mark Buckles (Christy) of Leitchfield, Tyler Green (Erinn) of Cincinnati, Grant Buckles (Charlene) of Decatur, GA, and Daniel Buckles of Lexington, KY; four nieces, Martha Hayes (Steve) of Lexington, Marita Buckles of Bowling Green, Rachel Brown (Keith) of Bowling Green and Rebecca Hein (Josh) of Henderson; great-nieces Taylor Buckles of Orlando, FL, Anna Davis of Leitchfield, Reese Hayes of Lexington, Caroline Green of Cincinnati and Anna Margaret Brown of Bowling Green; great-nephews T.J. Green of Cincinnati and Kevin Hein of Henderson; and her beloved friends Sherry and Granvil Vincent of Millwood. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10th, at Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Bro. David Brown, retired pastor of Caneyville Christian Church, and Bro.
