Retired Sergeant Major Howard E. Sparks 73 of Glasgow died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Barren County Health Care Center. Born in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Talmage and Bobie Traylor Sparks and the husband of the late Joyce Elaine Hurt Sparks. Mr. Sparks was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired Seed Salesman for Cargill Corporation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow. Survivors include his son Larry Sparks of Glasgow, 2 granddaughters Kassie Sparks and Katlyn Sparks both of Burkesville; 2 sisters Maxine Cole of Bowling Green and Alta Crawley of Campbellsville along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 1 brother Preston Sparks. Funeral services will be held 2PM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
