James Allen

James Walter Allen 76 of Merry Oaks died Saturday October 31, 2009 at the Barren County Health Care Center in Glasgow. Born in Barren County the son of the late Audrey Allen and the late Allie Myers Allen. Mr. Allen was a lifetime farmer, US Army Veteran and member of the Merry Oaks United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Glenna Pedigo Allen of Merry Oaks; 1 daughter Judy Chambers (Coleman) of Portland, TN; 1 brother Bill Allen (Wilma) of Merry Oaks; 2 sisters Jean Pursley of Glasgow and Dorothy Witty (James) of Glasgow; 2 grandchildren Ben Chambers (Mary) of Merry Oaks and Shannon Sieck (Eric) of St. Petersburg, FL; 1 great grandchild Leah Lane Chambers of Merry oaks and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 1 brother Rodney Allen and 2 sisters Hilda Furlong and Viola Allen. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday November 3, 2009 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Merry Oaks Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00noon until 8:00pm Monday at the funeral home.
