James Benjamin Hardin

February 6, 1947 — October 4, 2022

Tell City, Indiana James Edward Harris, Jr., 40, passed away on October 4, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in San Bernadino, California on April 20, 1982. James was a 2000 graduate of Perry Central High School and was very proud to serve his country in the United States Army Reserve. He was united in marriage on December 27, 2005 to Mary Cronin. James was currently employed as a welder at Meggitt, in Troy. James enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping and riding four-wheelers and his side by side. He loved to spend time with his three boys and his dogs, Tucker, Ember, Jackie and Jace. Surviving is his wife of 16 years, Mary Harris; sons, James, III, Orron and Brantley Harris; a sister, Candace Nichols; a dear friend who James thought of as a brother, Darrin Reed and Mary's family for whom James was a part of for 19 years, Rick and Julie Cronin, Julie and Wes Peter, Susie and James Bruce, Rick, Jr and Carina Cronin, James and September Cronin and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father, James Edward Harris, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Dave Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Newtonville, with military rites. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors.
