James T. 'Jimmy' Boyter 72 of Austin, KY went to his home in heaven Monday December 15, 2008 after his death at the V. A. Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born in Barren County, KY the son of the late Russell Boyter and Anna Lewis Payne Harris of Glasgow who survives. He was a graduate of Temple Hill High School and Georgetown College and served 25 years in the U.S. Navy retiring as a Lt. Commander. He served two tours of duty in Viet Nam, flying 172 combat reconnaissance missions for which he received two Distinguished Flying Cross medals and other awards. He was a member of the Military Officers Assn. of America, a Kentucky Colonel and a member and former Sunday school teacher at the Glasgow Baptist Church. Jim loved his Lord, his Donnie, his family, his country, the Kentucky Wildcats and his cabin in the woods. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 49 years Dona Rae; two sons James T. 'Jimbo' Boyter Jr. (Dawn) of Glasgow and Dr. Russell 'Rusty' Boyter (Heather) of Murfreesboro, TN; two daughters Ree McClintock (Mark) of Panama City Beach, FL and Lee Hayden (Craig) of Glasgow; a brother Phillip Boyter (Linda) of Hendersonville, TN and 9 grandchildren, James and Jessie Boyter, Gracie and Kalie Boyter, Tanner Cook, Alan and Anna Lee McClintock and Shelby and Brooke Hayden. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Nicky Boyter. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday December 19, 2008 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
