James Duvall 82 of Glasgow died Sunday August 2, 2009 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. Born in 1927 in Bowling Green, he was the son of the late Fred and Iva Lee Sharp Duvall. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a U. S. Army veteran of WWII. He was elected to the Glasgow City Council where he served for 24 years and also served as a Barren County Magistrate for 9 years. Mr. Duvall retired after 35 years of service with GTE. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rohena F. Houchens Duvall; six children Brenda (John) Nelson of Glasgow, Freddy (Pat) Duvall of Smiths Grove, Patty Cates of Bowling Green, Ricky (Rita) Duvall of Glasgow, Mike (Billie Jo) Duvall of Glasgow and Phillip (Mel) Duvall of Louisville; 9 grandchildren, Jay Nelson of Scottsville, Melissa (Wade) Stone and Sara Duvall of Glasgow, Wes (Vanessa) Cates and Jennifer Cates of Louisville, Katy (Patrick) Carroll of Georgetown, Jeff (Lisa) Duvall of Olive Branch and Chris and Angela Duvall of Louisville; 4 step grandchildren Heather and Stella Thompson and Roland and James P. Slayton; 4 great-grandchildren Nelson, Nicholas and Samantha Stone and Briley Cates. He is also survived by 2 brothers Ralph (Naomi) Duvall and Carl (Edith) Duvall of Glasgow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jenna Lynn Duvall, 4 brothers Paul, Robert Lee, Roy and Earl Duvall and 2 sisters Dorothy Shipley and Clarine Witty. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and Wednesday morning until time for the service.
