James Gravens

James Ernest Gravens 85 of Whiteland, Ind. formally of Glasgow, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2010, he passed away peacefully at his residence in Whiteland, Ind with his family at his bedside. Mr. Gravens was the son of the late Claudie and Hattie G, Hammer Gravens. He was a member of Kentucky Colonels since 1984, UAW Local 23 Skilled Trades Tool and Die retiree, with 42 years of service with General Motors Truck and Bus division in Indianapolis, also served in the United States Army at Camp Sibert, AL. Mr. Gravens was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Indainapolis. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Lavetric Kathleen Wood Gravens; 1 daughter Joyce Sizemore of Fountain Run; 2 sons Jimmy Gravens and John Gravens and wife Julie both of Greenwood, IN; 5 grandchildren Traci Vallance, Becky Lewis, Brandi Sizemore, Rachel and Zane Gravens; 3 great grandchildren Halli Alford, Cameron and Madyson Lewis; 5 sisters Florine Beeker, Pauline 'Acton' Perdue, Georgia Owens, Mildred Gene Graves and Rachel Lyons; 1 brother Charles 'Toad' Gravens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters Addie Mae Parsley and Kitty Kingrey Jones; 2 brothers Lonnie and Dick Gravens. Visitation for Mr. Gravens will be 4PM until 8PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Jessen Funeral Home Whiteland Chapel in Whiteland, IN. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 12, 2010 after 11AM at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and on Saturday, from 10AM until time for services at 12 Noon Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, P. O.
