James H. 'Jimmy' Houchens 71 of the Haywood community died Monday, January 19, 2015 at his home. Jimmy was the son of the late Gilbert Lee and Oline Chism Houchens. He was a retired contractor and a former employee of James N. Gray Construction Co. and later owned and operated James Houchens Construction. He was a graduate of Austin Tracy High School and served in the Kentucky National Guard HHB 1st BN, 623rd F.A. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church at Haywood and a longtime fan and supporter of Barren County High School Athletics. He is survived by his wife Judy Wood Houchens; 2 daughters Stacey Owen (Tommy) and Nicole Jones (Beau) both of Glasgow; 3 grandchildren Zack Owen, Ann Benning Jones and Skylar Owen; 1 brother Aubrey Houchens (Truda) of Glasgow; 2 brothers-in-law Mike Wood (Linda) of Temple Hill and Curtis Wood (Shirley) of Bowling Green; 5 nieces Kim Houchens, Stephanie Marsh (Stacy), Amy Key (Mark), Michelle Murphy (Daryl) and Mica Wood; 1 nephew Josh Wood; 4 great nephews Dustin Read, Dylan Read, Landon Key and Corbin Murphy and 1 great niece Katie Murphy. Many dear aunts and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, January 22, 2014 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3pm Wednesday.
