James Lester

James Elwood Lester (Jim), age 79, of Glasgow, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the Barren County Nursing and Rehab Facility. He was born in South Hampton, New York, to parents Rose and James D. E. Lester, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lester. Jim was a former volunteer fire fighter with the Madison Hose Company No. 1 in Madison, Connecticut, was a former member of the Caveman Barbershop Chorus, a farmer, and an avid sports enthusiast. He was also a retired Supervisor from RR Donnelley & Sons, where he worked for 43 years. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 and a half years, Gail Cunningham Lester of Glasgow; sons Michael Lester (Cassandra) of FL, Barry Lester (Sheri) of IN; a daughter, Cathy Sharkey (Kurt) of IN; 10 grandchildren - Katie Marcum (Aaron Reece) of Glasgow, Matt Marcum (Angie) of Glasgow, Adam Lester (Scarlett) of Elizabethtown, Paul Lester of IN, Elizabeth Lester of IN, Sandra Lester of IN, Drew Lester (Kelsey) of TX, Alexandra Davidson (Joshua) of FL, Forrest Lester of FL, and Kelsey Lester of CA; 9 great-grandchildren - Kyle Melton of Glasgow, Matthew and Loralei Marcum of Glasgow, Gracie Lester of Elizabethtown, Isaiah and Melody Davidson of FL, Jacelynn, Brantley, and Wyatt Lester of TX; 1 brother, David Lester of CT; two sisters, Betty White (Peter) of CT, and Barbara Guenther (Dick) of CT; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, June 4th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until time for services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made to the American Cancer Society, 952 Fairview Ave., Suite 4, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
