James Lankford Lyons 90 of Glasgow died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was the son of the late Ernest and Judy Sampson Lyons. Mr. Lyons was a lifelong farmer and a member and a deacon at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He is survived by one daughter Linda (Paul) Bray and one son Larry (Linda) Lyons both of Glasgow; 5 grandchildren Erica (Melvin) Vance, Kevin Lyons, Chad (Celena) Bray, April (David) Jackman and Whitney (Gary) Early all of Glasgow; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers J.W. and Truman Lyons of Indianapolis, IN; 3 sisters Earnestine Woodcock of Tracy, Ruth Callahan of Horse Cave and Gladen Thiess of LaGrange, KY and a very special neighbor Nell Eaton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Grace Eddings Lyons, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon Monday.
