James Murrell Steenbergen 72 of Glasgow, died Sunday January 24, 2010 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Elbert and Lucille Carver Steenbergen. Mr. Steenbergen was a former employee of Standard Oil Co. for 12 years and was retired from SKF Co. after 28 years. He enjoyed gardening and was a fan of little league baseball and basketball. James was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Concord Baptist Church at Austin-Tracy. He is survived by his wife Linda Francis Steenbergen; a daughter Lana Mansfield (Fred) of Glasgow; 4 grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Janoah and Jessica Mansfield all of Glasgow; 1 brother Johnny Steenbergen (Evelyn) of Lafayette, TN; 5 sisters Mary Gibbons (Freamon) of Glasgow, Wanda Bell (Rodney) of Canmer and Vera 'Boots' Steenbergen, Elaine Steenbergen and Betty Dermott all of Champaign, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday.
