James Woosley

James Reid Woosley, age 91, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 18th, 1923 in Grayson County, the son of the late Fieldon and Beulah (Embry) Woosley. James Reid was a member of the Caneyville Christian Church and of the Caneyville Masonic Lodge #635. He was a retired teacher of the Grayson County School System. He served as an assistant principal at Caneyville High School. James Reed was a former principal at Caneyville Elementary School and Clarkson High School. He also worked at the Central Office of the Board of Education and served in the Army during WWII.James Reid is survived by his daughter, Rita Ferguson (Gil) of Harvest, AL; one son, Jim Woosley of Louisville; four grandchildren, Shannon Yates (Jeff), Jennifer Woosley, and Lee Woosley all of KY, and Bonnie Ferguson of AL. Other than his parents, James Reid is preceded in death by his wife, Vanna (Evans) Woosley and a sister, Marguerite WilsonFuneral services will be Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. CST at the Caneyville Christian Church. Bro David Brown and Bro Michael Courtwright will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville after 3:00 pm Monday only and at the Caneyville Christian Church on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until time of service.In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Caneyville Christian Church.
