Jane Florence Kerry

Jane Florence Otto Kerry, 90, of Glasgow, KY, formerly of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully October 22, 2021 at NHC Nursing Home in Glasgow, KY. She was born April 30, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Elmer C. Otto and Florence Jefford Otto. She grew up in downtown Philly during The Great Depression. She graduated from Temple University in 1953, and taught health and physical education in Philadelphia City schools. She married George Fred Kerry in January, 1954. She was an avid crafter and especially loved knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and plastic canvas art. She loved traveling with George through all 50 states of the USA, as well as Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, and Germany. After George's retirement, they moved to Ocala, Florida where they lived until his passing in 2013. She then moved to Kentucky to be closer to family for the last 8 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, George Fred Kerry; her parents, Elmer and Florence Otto; two brothers, Elmer Otto, Jr. of Florida and Charles Otto of Arizona; two brothers-in-law, Jack Kerry and Jim Kerry of Pennsylvania; nephew JJ Kerry of Pennsylvania; and granddaughter Kimberly Kerry of Michigan. She is survived by her daughter Lynne Kerry Pierce of Glasgow, KY and son Ron Kerry (Kathy) of Rochester Hills, MI; six grandchildren, Tim Pierce (Karen) and Dr. Kristi Pierce of Glasgow, KY, Mike Kerry (Lindsay) of Hemlock, MI, Jeff Pierce of Bowling Green, KY, Jim Kerry (Kelly) of Troy, MI, and Beth Kerry of Rochester Hills, MI; four great-grandsons with a fifth expected in four weeks - Jaxon Pierce, Tanner Pierce, Aaron Kerry, Eli Kerry, and coming soon, Lucas Kerry. She is also survived by four nieces, Sue, Nancy, Ruth, and Tina; six nephews, Bob, Bill, Steve, Charles, Christian, and Curtis; and a host of extended family and friends. At her request, there will be a family graveside service held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY at a future date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be sent to The American Cancer Society in memory of Jane Kerry.
