Janice Jackson Short, 83, of Glasgow entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after a brief stay at Barren County Health Care & Rehab. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on February 17, 1941, to the late Porter & Alma (Houchens) Jackson. Janice graduated from Park City High School in 1959.


Janice went to work for New Farmers National Bank in 1959, serving many years as a loan officer before retiring from BB&T in December of 2002. In her spare time, she played softball and bowled for many years and also enjoyed reading and time with her family. She was a long time member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and most recently attended New Beginnings Baptist Church.


She is survived by two sons; Greg Short (Kathy) and Chris Short (Pam) both of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Allison Short (Justin Gannon), Savannah Lindsey (Casey), Lynsey Wood (Brandon), Gabby Martin (Zane), and Dillon Short, all of Glasgow, Adam Garrett (Lindsey) of Bowling Green and Sarah Lockwood of Scottsville; she was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Madi Swayne, Benji and Emory Lindsey, Eryn, Levi, Greyson and Jasmine Garrett, Curtis and Parker Lockwood; a sister, Arlene Lockhart of Glasgow; a niece, Kim Lockhart Miller (Lamar) of Smiths Grove; nephew, Chad Lockhart (Amanda) of Glasgow; and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roger Short; a beloved brother-in-law, Elwood Lockhart; and several close aunts and uncles.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association or any charity close to your heart.


The funeral service for Janice will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
