Joe Donald Bacon 79 of Eighty Eight, KY died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. The Barren County native was the son of the late Dexter Bacon, Sr. and Helen Miller Bacon. He was a motor vehicle enforcement officer for the state of Kentucky for 23 years, 1968-1991, and also had been employed by the Sunbeam Bread Co. For many years he farmed in the Temple Hill community. Joe Donald was a member of Union #2 Baptist Church and was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years whom he dearly loved, Donnie Sue Richardson Bacon and his brother Dexter Bacon, Jr. Survivors include his sister Betty Bowman (Evans) of Glasgow; a brother-in-law Dan Richardson (Tina) of Munfordville; a sister-in-law Shirley Bacon of Glasgow; an aunt Shirley Totty (Ron) of Melbourne, FL; 3 nephews Gerry Bowman (Becky) of Temple Hill, Dan Bacon of Prospect, KY and David Bacon of Keizer, OR; a niece Melanie Jones (Larry) of Knoxville, TN and his dog Snoopy. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 22nd at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Refuge Cemetery at Eighty Eight with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 until 8:00 and Saturday morning until time for the service.
