Joe Montgomery Sr.

Joe W. Montgomery, Sr. 92 of Glasgow, died Monday April 9, 2007 at the Glasgow Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Adair County the son of the late Henry Virgil and Bertha Shirley Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was a photographer and owned and operated Palmore Studio for 67 years. He was a charter member of the Glenview Christian Church where he also was a Sunday School Teacher and former president of Men For Christ. He was also Past President of the Glasgow Optimist Club, was one of the founders of Trooper Island at Dale Hollow Lake and was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife Shirley Payne Montgomery; 3 sons Joe W. Montgomery Jr. (Brenda) of Austin, KY, Ewing Lee Montgomery (Sue) of Indianapolis, IN, and Marty L. Wooten of Glasgow; 3 daughters Rebecca Denton Christian (Jim) of Indianapolis, IN, Jo Ann Montgomery at home and Sandy Wooten Claywell (Marvin) of Glasgow; 1 brother James V. Montgomery of Clarksville, Ark; 2 sisters Kate Conley of Rittman, OH and Hazel Winkler of Seville, OH; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Joseph Palmore Montgomery. Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm Wednesday.
