Joel Allen Wilson 77 of Glasgow died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Barren County, Kentucky he was the son of the late Leonard Russell and Ellie Welch Wilson. He was a member and Deacon of the Glenview Christian Church which he deeply loved. Mr. Wilson worked for the Glasgow Daily Times for over 50 years where he began as sports writer and eventually became Managing Editor. Joel was well known for his weekly column writing and later for his ‘Outdoor" column. He was given an honorary degree from Western Kentucky University in Journalism. He loved fishing and gardening and was one of the original founders of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club. He was a local historian and served on several civic boards including the Glasgow-Barren County Tourism Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission and he frequently volunteered at the local soup kitchen. Survivors include his wife of 40 years Anna Fullenwider Wilson of Glasgow; his children whom he dearly loved Lisa Biggers, Marianne DeMeyers (Greg) and Chris Wilson all of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren John Stephen Biggers (Sheba), Jake Biggers (Kelly) and Jack and David DeMeyers; a brother George "Buddy" Wilson of Florida and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Raymond Wilson; three sisters Honor Moore, Imogene Sharp and Bea LaPorte and a son-in-law Stephen Earl Biggers. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contribution to BRAWA at P. O. Box 171 Glasgow, KY 42142.
