John M Barrick was born in Barren County on March 8, 1925 and passed away July 31, 2015. He was married to his loving wife Sarah Wilson Barrick for 65 years. Johnny was a pioneer in Radio Broadcasting having launched WCDS 1440 AM in 1962. He was a respected and loved on- air personality and innovator in shaping the way radio is broadcast today. In July of 1972, Johnny and Sarah went on the air with WOVO FM. Johnny was inducted into the Kentucky Radio Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2014. His love and passion for this community drove him to develop a large portion of the 31-bypass to bring multiple commercial businesses and industries into Glasgow. He also developed numerous residential subdivisions and properties and was U.S. Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife Sarah Wilson Barrick of Glasgow; 2 daughters Christy (Michael) Thomas of Nashville and Cindy Curtis (Mike) Thomason of Glasgow; 2 sons Dan Barrick and David Barrick both of Glasgow; 6 grandchildren Josh (Amanda) Curtis, Ashley Curtis, John (Kiley) Curtis, Madison Barrick and Jackson Barrick all of Glasgow and Jeremy Curtis of Nashville; 3 great grandchildren Payton Curtis, Carlee Dale Curtis and Wyatt Curtis of Glasgow. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Bobby Barrick. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00pm Saturday at the funeral home.
