John Hugh Vaughn

John Hugh Vaughn, age 98, died Friday, November 22, 2019 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Dayton, OH on January 20, 1921 to the late James Franklin Vaughn and the late Mamie Delia (Powell) Vaughn. He was a retired Union Millwright. Mr. Vaughn served in the Army, serving 39 months in WWII in the North African and European theater. He was the last surviving member of Kentucky 123rd Mounted Calvary and the 106th Artillery Battalion. He was awarded the French Legion Medal of Honor. He was a 32nd degree master mason, a member of the Glasgow Shrine Club, a Kentucky Colonel and a Kentucky Admiral. He received his high school diploma at 85 years old. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Eugenia Vaughn; one son, Larry Vaughn (Velisa), Louisville; one daughter, Kim Shields (Brian), Glasgow; five grandchildren, Belinda Gonterman (Patrick), Terry Sivori (Jill), Amber Kaelin (James), Natalie Shields, all of Louisville, Allison Shields, Glasgow; seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce and son in law Bill Sivori; one grandson, Troy Sivori; two brothers, Harry and James Vaughn. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26 at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Glasgow DAV Chapter #20. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and 9:00 AM until time for services Tuesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held Monday at 6:30 PM. A.F.
