John Tipton Matthews 89 of Cave City, KY died Tuesday April 5, 2005 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Barren County the son of the late James Allen and Lillie Bell Depp Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a farmer, a member of the First Christian Church in Glasgow and served with the 123rd Calvary Unit of the Kentucky National Guard. He is survived by a sister Margarett Elizabeth Matthews Alexander of Glasgow; a special nephew Buddy Williams and family of Cave City; 13 Nieces, 10 Nephews, 46 Great Nieces and Nephews and Several Great Great Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Oma Elizabeth Hurt Matthews, a son John Tipton Matthews Jr., a daughter Alice Elizabeth Matthews and two brothers B.F. Matthews and James Allen Matthews II and an infant sister Gladys Christine Matthews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday April 8, 2005 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and on Friday from 8:00am until time for services.
