Joseph Lee Chapman, 78, of Owensboro passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County on July 18, 1940 to the late Arthur Lee Chapman and Helen Grady Chapman. Joseph retired from Whirlpool where he worked as a forklift driver for 40 years, and was a former member of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed reading and playing games on his tablet, NASCAR, and playing Santa at Christmas. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances Hardesty Chapman, who passed away in 2017, and his sister, Mary Ann Rhinburger, and his grandson, Jacob Wayne Chapman. Joseph is survived by his children, Lisa (Bob) Wimsatt, Joseph (Debra) Chapman, both of Owensboro, Wayne (Emma) Chapman, of Paducah, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Linda Oost, of Owensboro, and Fred (Shirley) Chapman of Texas, and his dog, Bella. Services will be 12:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2019 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory with Brother Ferrell Isenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, and again form 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy will take the form of donations to Crosspoint Baptist Church; 550 Worthington Rd; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
