J. C. Groce, 82 of Glasgow, died Friday morning, October 3, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Glasgow following a battle with cancer. He was son of the late Jerry and Ruby Groce. J. C. was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Kentucky National Guard. He had a long career in public service with the Glasgow Fire Department, Glasgow Police Department, Kentucky State Parks and Barren County Sheriffs Department. At the time of his death he was a baliff in the District Court for Barren County. Survivors include daughters Jo Doris (Lou) Fentress and Wanda Butch (Bill) Humphrey; six grandchildren: Will (Varsey) Humphrey, Joey Humphrey, Nancy (Jeff) Haney, Thom Humphrey, Sara Howard, and Mary (Tim) Osborne; nine great-grandchildren: McKayla, Leah & Rhealey Humphrey, Cooper & Eliza Haney, Collin Howard, and Maddie, Lillie & Emorie Osborne; and special friend of 30 years: Juanita Lile. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday October 5, 2008 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00pm on Friday and will continue after 9:00am on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts can be made to T. J. Samson Hospice Program.
