Joseph Shadrach Pierce, 84, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. He was born in Cazenovia, NY on October 5, 1939, to the late Reverend, Doctor Ellis E. Pierce and the late Alma (Blogett) Pierce. He was the youngest of three sons. Joseph was a senior master sergeant in the United States Air Force, and the Air National Guard where he spent 33 years before retiring in1999. He was a student of history, both civilian and military. He studied at Alfred University and Ithaca College. For his initial 4 years of U.S.A.F. active duty he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command.
While stationed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, N.D. in his time off-duty he was largely occupied by his very significant role in re-activating the Grand Forks Sportscar Club. His activities there were significant in contributing to his life-long interest in amateur sportscar driven classes, racing, and participation. Joe was involved in contract administration and other management roles in the manufacturing industry. Thanks to his Pierce ancestry, Joe was an eligible and very active member of the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.). For years he was also in numerous roles of leadership and social activities of the St. Andrews Societies of the NY Capital District, in Albany, and Schenectady, NY. The Saint Andrews Society supports continued learning and appreciation of the many contributions of the Scots to the American Historical development and growth over the decades.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Caroline Ann (Kamrowski) Pierce; one brother, Ellis Pierce Jr. (Chambersburg PA); Although Joe and Caroline never had children of their own Joe is loved and cherished by numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout all their years, he cherished the loyalty and love of their canine and feline family.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Pierce (Wayland, NY)
The family has chosen to honor the wishes of Mr. Pierce with cremation. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, June 25th at St. Helen's Catholic Church.
