Joyce Bushong

Joyce Williams Bushong, 81, of Morganton, NC, passed away March 12, 2022, at her residence. She was born November 19, !940 in Monroe County, KY to the late Ancil Thomas and Bessie Gillenwater Thomas. Joyce worked at Kmart as the Human Resource manager for 24 years. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. Joyce was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Methodist Church, but recently had been attending St. Matthews Methodist Church in Morganton, NC. Survivors include her two sons, Mark Williams (Amy) of Glasgow, Ronnie Williams (Anna) of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Beth Hicks (Harvey) of Morganton, NC; sister, Eva Nell Rich of Noblesville, IN; five grandchildren, Brandi Leal (Tony), Brittany Simpkins, Chelsey Correa (Dereck), Ashley Williams, and Trace Williams; 8 great grandchildren, Andrew Leal, Devin Correa, Sophia Love, Peyton Correa, Penelope Correa, Ella Leal, Henry Correa, and Addadale Leal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Carroll Williams, her 2nd husband, Larry Bushong; brother, Stanley Thomas; sister, Elizabeth Headrick. Graveside service for Mrs. Bushong will be 2:00pm Thursday, March 17th at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County. There will be a home going celebration at the masonic lodge at Bethlehem immediately following the service. In Lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the Hospice care of your choice.
