Joyce Howard, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born February 1, 1938, in Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Harles Richard Payne Sr. and Viola Frances Miles Payne. She was an antique dealer and owned and operated Joyce's Treasures of Yesteryear. She was a previous member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Lewisport, a current member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, and a member of the Red Hat Club. Joyce was known as an anchor for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her friends, who were like family, as well as her children and grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Howard in 2011; a brother, Harles Richard Payne, Jr.; and four sisters, Mary Oma Cronin, Ora Lee Schultz, Mary Oneida Gilmore and Mary Emogene Payne. She is survived by two sons, Bobby (Donna) Howard of Detroit, Michigan, and David (Renee) Howard of Maceo; three daughters, Denise Howard of Owensboro, Tina (Jody) Carmack of St. Louis, and Kim (Shannon) Hovious of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren, Dustin, Lacey, Shawn, Matt, and Elijah Howard, Lauren Miller, Brittany Young, Tyler, Emily, and Mitch Carmack, Ruby Grace, Lola Pearl, and Griffin Gehrig Hovious; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Blincoe of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Mike Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
