Juanita Bayless

Dr. Juanita C. Bayless 71 of Glasgow died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Born in Bartholomew County, IN she is the daughter of Allen & Melva VanEst Barr of Columbus, IN. Dr. Bayless had a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University in Special Education and Elementary Education, Master of Science Degree from Butler University in Educational Psychology and an Ed.D. from University of Northern Illinois in Educational Psychology. Dr. Bayless was the Director of Western Kentucky University - Glasgow and Associate Dean of Division of Extended Learning and Outreach at WKU. She was very involved in the Glasgow community serving as Past President of the Glasgow Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, founding Director of Safe Spot, former director of the Bunch Center, member of Glasgow/Barren Co. Chamber of Commerce, member of Glasgow B&PW and a Kentucky Colonel. Dr. Bayless was also awarded the Spirit of Western Award by WKU. Throughout Dr. B's life, she served her family and community with a love felt by every life she touched. For relaxation, she liked to garden and work on various home projects. In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband John Bayless of Glasgow; a daughter Heather Bowling (Garrett) of Newburg, IN; a son John Bayless (Beth) of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren Morgan Bowling, Katie Bayless, Nathan Bowling, Brooke Bayless and Mathew Bowling; several cousins, other family members and friends also survive. Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ in Glasgow. Burial will be in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN, on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm until time services at 6:00 pm at the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
