Juanita Morris

Juanita V. Morris, 89, of Caneyville, peacefully passed away Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. She was born on Wednesday, July 5th, 1928 in Rineyville, the daughter of the late Abraham and Emma Mae (Daughtery) Morgan. Juanita was a school teacher of the Grayson County School System and retired after teaching more than thirty-five years. She taught at Tunnel Hill School, Rineyville School and Pine Knob School before teaching at Caneyville School for more than twenty years. She was the clerk of the Grayson County Baptist Association for more than thirty years and a member of New Harvest Baptist Church. She was given to pray and the reading of God's word which she put in practice every day. She also enjoyed quilting and working puzzles. Juanita is survived by her daughter, Pam Cartwright (Tim) of Leitchfield; her son, Wendell Morris (Marianne) of Raceland, KY; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Morgan of Elizabethtown and Louie Morgan of Rineyville; three sisters, Margie Sharp of Millerstown, Jane Lucas (Bernie) of Rineyville and Sue Hayden (Wayne) of Vine Grove and a lot of special nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of almost 64 years, John David Morris; their daughter, Eugena Tabor; one granddaughter, Haley Cartwright; three brothers, Ralph, Donnie and Marion Morgan; an infant brother, Clifford Dale Morgan and two sisters, Ina Cain and Erma Bewley. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 6th at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Jeremy Atwood and Bro John Whittaker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Tuesday after 2:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of service.
