Julius Earl Carter, 96, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at his residence. He was born May 10, 1926 in Arcola, Illinois to the late Truman Earl Carter and Wealthie Hale Carter. Julius obtained a bachelor's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and in his early years, was a watchmaker for Froedge Jewelry. He later became a United Methodist Minister and ministered at twelve different churches in the state of Kentucky for over 50 years. His home church was Bethany Methodist Church in Louisville, Kentucky and in his free time, he enjoyed tinkering with watches and fishing. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 75 years, Jean Harlan Carter; two sons, Roger Carter, Larry Carter (Karen); five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Rene Carter; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Carter; one grandchild, Clinton Carter; one great grandchild, Aiden McGee; and four sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus Health of Barren River-Glasgow. Envelopes will be available at the church. A memorial service for Mr. Carter will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, February 23rd at the First United Methodist Church.
