Kara Louise Mollis, 45, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Dr. Mollis was a full Professor of English and Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at Lindsey Wilson College where she was a beloved colleague and educator. She was passionate about her students, colleagues, and discipline. She single-handedly created the Women's and Gender Studies Major at Lindsey Wilson College. Dr. Mollis was an active and accomplished scholar in 19th and 20th century American literature and Women's and Gender Studies, frequently publishing and presenting at national and international academic journals and conferences. Kara earned her undergraduate degree at Washington-Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. She obtained her Master's and PhD in English at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, Kara was a wonderful mother to her two children, Sofia Coleman and Luca Coleman. She fiercely loved her family and was a kind, caring, hard-working mother. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, David Coleman; her children, Sofia and Luca; her parents, Kevin Mollis and Louisa Laskey Mollis; her sister, Kourtney Mollis; brother, Luke Mollis; and her nieces and nephews Nina, Gabriel, Natalia, and Nico. She was born August 5, 1975 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania and was of the Catholic faith. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 PM CT Wednesday, June 30th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until time for the Celebration at the funeral home. A. F. Crow & Son is both honored and privileged to be entrusted in the care of Dr. Mollis.
