Laura Dorathean Harlow

Laura Dorathean Powell Harlow, 92, of Glasgow passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. She was born in Barren County on September 17, 1928 to the late Ervin Williams and Sarah Dee Greer Williams. Laura was a 1960 graduate of the Lois Lynn Beauty School in Bowling Green, KY. After beauty school, she opened a Salon shop in her home and worked there for nearly 25 years. Later she went to work at Margie's Total Haircare in Glasgow and worked until her retirement. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1970. She loved to sing in the church choir and was a Sunday School teacher for many different age groups and classes. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, G.D. Powell and late husband, Joseph S. Harlow; five siblings, Roy Lee Williams, James Ellis Williams, Edward Williams, Margaret Marshall, and Delbert Williams. Survivors include two sons, Steven Powell (Rita) and Clinton Powell (Mary Lynne) both of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Kacie Miller (Daniel) of Lexington, Andy Powell (Susie) of Glasgow, Michele Combs (Jarred) of Glasgow, Chastity Hayes (Raymond) of Clarksville, TN, Michael Maggard (Jessie) of Louisville, Marc Maggard (Hiroko) of Daphne, AL, and Megan Elkins (Danny) of Magnolia, KY; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Douglas Williams (DiAnn) of Barren County; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Sunday, October 11th at the A.F Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Sunday morning until time for service at the funeral home. The funeral home requests that face masks be worn at all times and for everyone to practice social distancing. A. F.
