Lester Reid Daniel 84 of Glasgow died Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born in Warren County the son of the late Lester Garland and Gladys Lancaster Daniel. Mr. Daniel was an Optician with Jean Opticians in Glasgow and was a founding member of the American Contact Lens Assn. of America. For 30 years Lester was the broadcast engineer for WKAY radio sports where he assisted Hank Royse with Glasgow High School Sports broadcasts. He was a founding member and a past president of the Glasgow-Barren County Jaycees and was a member and an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Ward Daniel; four children, William Curd Daniel and wife Rita of Bowling Green, Dawn Mosby Slaughter of Bowling Green, Alan Reid Daniel and wife Jennie of Berea, KY and Mark Alton Daniel of Lexington; 7 grandchildren, Billie Jean Poteet, Hannah Kate Slaughter, Hillary Curd Slaughter, Jordan Dane Daniel, Aaron Nicholas Daniel, Alana Joy Daniel and Jennifer Ann Daniel; 1 great grandchild Cayden Jaxon Poteet and 4 step sons, Alan Ward of Lexington, Steve Ward of Glasgow, Ric Ward of Atlanta, GA and Scott Ward of St. Louis, MO. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at Plano, KY. Visitation will be after 4:00pm Monday and on Tuesday from 8:00am until time for the funeral. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 200 E. Washington St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
