Linda Lou Francis Steenbergen, 81, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at her residence. She was born October 9, 1940, in Austin Tracy, Kentucky, to the late John David Francis and Pearl Beatrice Wyatt Francis. Survivors include her daughter, Lana Mansfield (Fred); four grandchildren, Jacob Mansfield (Jessica Brown-Mansfield), Jordan, Janoah, and Jessica Mansfield, all of Glasgow; her dove, Ringo; and several nieces, nephews and relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James Murrell Steenbergen and four siblings, Leon, JD, Kenneth Francis, and Ann Riddle Garner. Linda graduated from Austin Tracy High School in 1959 and it was at this time that she moved to Glasgow and began her earliest employment as a switch board operator for the General Telephone Company. Shortly thereafter on May 14,1960, she married the love of her life, James Murrell Steenbergen and they established their life together until his passing in 2010. Aside from her homemaker duties, Linda was employed at T.J. Samson Hospital and Howard Clinic for several years. Prior to retirement she was employed by Walmart where she enjoyed working with the public and established many lasting relationships. Following her retirement, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and also providing care for friends and family that were ill or incapacitated in some way. Linda enjoyed tending her flowers, raising a garden, and in days gone by quilting and sewing. She was well known for her cooking, especially her pies and dressing at Thanksgiving. She also was intrigued by studying her family's genealogy and keeping up with her friends. Shoe shopping was always a favorite past time. She took great joy in watching her grandson play baseball, her granddaughters participate in all of their events, and watching "her UK boys" play basketball. As a woman and mother devoted to her faith and to her family, both her and her husband became members of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. Before her membership at Concord, she was a member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service for Mrs. Steenbergen will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. A. F.
