Lonnie H. Matthews

Lonnie H. Matthews, 75, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 surrounded by family at his home in Temple Hill. He was born May 17, 1947 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Jewell Matthews and Cordlene Crowe Matthews. Lonnie served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he received two purple hearts in the Vietnam War. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a lifelong dairy farmer. Lonnie was a longtime member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Pat Matthews; two sons, Randy (Kim) and Ryan Matthews (April); three grandsons, Tres Matthews, Preston Matthews, Brock Billingsley; one granddaughter, Kimber Matthews; two stepdaughters, Heather Wilson (Jeff), Andrea Smith; four step grandsons, Jackson Smith, Jacob Wilson, Aiden Smith, Austin Smith; one step granddaughter, Laura Wilson; and one brother, Rondell Matthews (Dawn). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rene Matthews; four brothers; and four sisters. The funeral service for Mr. Matthews will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 17th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20. Visitation will be on Monday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. A. F.
