Virginia Louise Birge Proffitt, 88, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at Barren County Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Louise was born on October 2, 1936, in Monroe County, Kentucky, to Ora and Annie Pitcock Birge. She was the cherished wife of the late Oval Morris Proffitt and a passionate homemaker whose nurturing heart extended to countless children as a dedicated childcare provider. A devoted mother and grandmother, Louise found joy in caring for her family and preparing their favorite meals. She shared a love in working with her husband and sister, creating beautiful porcelain dolls, crocheting, and cross-stitching. Her skills as a talented seamstress were admired by many. Louise selflessly served as an adult caregiver, offering compassion and assistance both within their homes and her church community. Her boundless love and dedication left an indelible impact on all who knew her, embodying a life filled with service, kindness, and heartfelt connections.

Louise was a devoted Child of God and a loyal member of Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with unwavering dedication and joy. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Louise's love for God was evident not only in her words but in her compassionate deeds and steadfast service to her church community. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and lived as a testament to her faith, offering encouragement and spiritual support to those in need. Her unwavering devotion left a profound and lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her.

Louise is lovingly survived by her sons, Dennis Proffitt (Linda) of Glasgow and Charles Proffitt of Illinois. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Christy Johns (Chan) of Glasgow, Debbie Profgan (Brittney) of Smiths Grove, Quaid Proffitt (Ashlyn) of Madisonville, and Aven Proffitt of Beechmont, as well as her great-grandchildren, Sage Johns, Syler Johns, Solomon Johns, and Stetson Proffitt. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Wanda McGuire (Carl) and William Gayles Birge (Mary Lou), both of Glasgow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oval Morris Proffitt, her sisters Wilma Jesse and Lena Crabtree, and her brother Ora Birge Jr. Louise's memory and influence will remain deeply rooted in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Visitation for Mrs. Proffitt will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, February 7th at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM and burial in Union Number 2 Cemetery.
