Malra Hazel Kidd, 93, of Glasgow, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Luther Porter Kidd and Vera Moore Kidd. He was a lifelong farmer and a heavy equipment operator for several construction companies including Tommy Wells Construction Co. He also worked for the Barren County Road Department as a road grader operator and later helped with the construction of the Barren River Dam. Mr. Kidd was a WWII U.S. Army veteran where he served as a Medic. He was a mason for 65 years with the Austin Masonic Lodge # 847. He was a member of Slick Rock Methodist Church. After his marriage, he and mom regularly attended Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Kruckas (Joe) of Minnetrista, MN and Frances Steenbergen (Richard Witten) of Glasgow; four sons, Philip Kidd (Melinda) of Indianapolis, IN, Kenneth Kidd (Sharon), Walter Kidd (Sybil) and Gerald Kidd (Donnie Sue) all of Glasgow. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren Tara Anderson (Jim Topp), Jamie Pehl (Clint), Tiffany Kokal (Chris), Jason Kidd (Christy), Morgan Kidd, Caitlyn Kidd, Kelly Ross, Benjamin Kidd (Tiffany), Leslie Kidd, Lindsey Stephens (Troy), Nicholas Kidd, Wendy Browning (Jerrod), Spencer Kidd (Lindsey); 3 step grandchildren, Steven Wininger (Amy), Leslie Manion (Keith), and Andy Wininger (Johna); and 18 great grandchildren, Morgan, Mallorie and Mason Brakemeier, Garrett and Ian Kidd, Campbell and Elaine Ross, Calleigh and Lucas Kidd, Maddee, Jax, Marlee, and Knox Stephens, Carter, Carson and Casen Browning, Kellan and Kamden Kidd; and 7 step great grandchildren, Luke, Matthew, Will, and Claire Wininger, Kelsey and Ian Manion, and Case Wininger. He is also survived by one sister Wilma Jo Trujillo of Memphis, TN, and two sisters-in-law, Edna Plumlee of Glasgow and Melba Kidd of Cisco, TX. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Plumlee Kidd; two brothers, Oakley and Everett Kidd; two sisters, Lougene Powell and Gladys Thompson, and a son-in-law Michael Steenbergen. A special thanks to his caregivers, Lee Ann Ballard, Barbara Chambers, and Rachel Wheeler. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
