Marjorie Arlene Avery 88 of Glasgow died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at her home. She was born July 22, 1927 in Leominster, MA. She was a graduate of Leominster High School and the Elizabeth Hollis Beauty Academy. Marjorie was pre-deceased by her parents Sumner Earl Davidson and Ada (Arbo) Davidson of Leominster, MA; her husband Hollon 'Bob' Avery of Glasgow, KY; his sons Bruce Robert Avery and Curtis Elton Avery of Phoenix, AZ; and her brother Sumner Earl Davidson, Jr. of Westminster, MA and her two sisters Charlotte Welweart and Faye Allard, both from MA. Mrs. Avery was a long-time volunteer for T.J. Samson Community Hospital Women's Auxiliary in Glasgow, serving as a 'pink lady' for nearly twenty years, where she provided countless hours of beauty shop services to hospital patients and staff members. Her community service was very important to her, she put as much energy into her volunteer work as she did her long career as a beautician and cosmetologist, having owned and operated a small chain of beauty shops in Massachusetts and also having instructed cosmetology at various beauty colleges around New England. Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glasgow, KY and held membership in the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 470 in Edmonton and the Glasgow, KY Chapter and maintained membership with the Stella Chapter OES, in Southington, CT. Marjorie was active in the OES nearly all of her adult life holding all of the offices and leadership positions that exists, many times over the years and she took great comfort in participating in those rituals. She is survived by daughter-in-law Leah Thuy, granddaughter Jade Lin Avery, great-grandson Jace Hernandes Avery of Phoenix, AZ, sisters Betty Longstaff and Ruth Rust, brother-in-law Eugene P. Avery of Edmonton, KY and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Marjorie Avery will be interred with her husband Hollon 'Bob' Avery and his sons, in her family grave site in New Hampshire, where a graveside service will be conducted. Expressions of sympathy for the family can be directed to Marjorie's home address, in Glasgow, KY. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
