Mary Ernestine Beals, 91, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024. She was quite the Christmas gift as she was born on December 25, 1932, in the Happy Hollow Community of Barren County to her late parents, Dewey McClard and Frances Peden McClard. She was a 1952 graduate of Temple Hill High School and soon after, married her high school sweetheart, Edwin Alan Beals, who preceded her in death. Ernestine was a farmer, homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother, also known as, “Gaga.” She was a proud supporter of her sons and their many activities, whether athletic pursuits, the Beta Club, or as a band parent. Despite the loss of her firstborn child, Donna Frances Beals, she remained a person of faith. Ernestine loved her church family at South Green Street Church of Christ, where she was an active member until her health failed. She lived to laugh, talk, and she loved Christmas. Her favorite line no matter what she or her family faced was, “everything will be okay.”
Her survivors include three sons, Alan Lynn Beals (Charlotte), Timothy Neal Beals (Kelly), and Jeffrey Carroll Beals; six grandchildren, Mary Kateland Long (Josh), Matthew Alexander Beals (Katherine), Catherine Lynn Ward (Grant), Alan Campbell Beals, Jeffrey Chance Beals, and Hallie Frances Beals; three great grandchildren and two more due in early 2025; her cherished sister, Deborah McClard Reneau; sister-in-law, Georgia Beth Albany; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom she dearly loved.
The funeral service for Mrs. Beals will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 8th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
