Mary King

Mary Fitzgerald King, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on May 19, 1944, in Daviess County to the late Edward and Lula Caysinger Fitzgerald. She was former owner and mechanic of Prestuner's, a homemaker and a great mother. She was a member of the Holiness Church. She enjoyed cooking and was a great cook, she also enjoyed teaching Sunday School class, sewing and fishing, but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Clara Fitzgerald Hibbard, Evelyn, Arthur, and Elton Fitzgerald, and Zelma Fitzgerald Sparks. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Preston King; children Sara (Steve) Abrams, Diana (Gerald) Kinison, John King, Tina (Jey) Miller, Preston (Elaine) King all of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Fitzgerald Rice of Owensboro. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home. The family requests in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Mary Eva Fitzgerald King Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
