Mary K. Lewis 81 of Glasgow died Wednesday March 5, 2008 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was born in Barren County the daughter of the late Lonnie and Pearl Emmitt Byrd and was the wife of the late Bernice L. Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the South Side Baptist Church, a 56 year member of Austin Homemakers, the Red Hat Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary at T. J. Samson Hospital. She was also active in league bowling and was a former employee of the Farmers Livestock Market for 30 years and retired from Handmacher. She was a member of the Barren River Writers Circle and authored a book entitled 'What Hatched at the Byrd's'. Survivors include 3 daughters, Peggy Furlong, Betty L. Denton (Steve), and Judy McLaughlin; 7 grandchildren Bobby, Jeff, Joe David & Todd Furlong, Stephanie & Holli Hanson and Tammy Roberts; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Carl Byrd (Doris); 3 sisters Stella Matthews, Virginia Green and Mildred Smith (Stokley); and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers Buster and Joe Byrd; 3 sisters Captiola, Pricey and Maydelle and 2 granddaughters Marcie and Debbie Furlong. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday March 8th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00pm Thursday.
