Dixine Proffitt 82 of the Etoile community died Monday, October 17, 2016 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Robert and Erma Hunt Payne. Dixine was a homemaker and worked along with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Arlen B. Proffitt; daughter Linda (Kyle) Bowles of Temple Hill; son Cary (Beth) Proffitt of Temple Hill; 2 grandchildren Dane (Kelly) Bowles of Glasgow and Heather (Chad) Hatcher of Cave City; a great-grandchild Bryson Hatcher; 1 sister Nell (William Earl) Bowles of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews and special friends Mark, Rochelle and Mattea Wyatt. She was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Lula Martin (Eugene), Russell Payne (Ruth), Rondal Payne (Shirley), Lottie Woodcock (Paul) and Beulah Payne. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 20th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Wednesday.
