Maurice Elizabeth Elmore, 93 of Glasgow, died Thursday August 13, 2015 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. She was born in Mt Hermon, KY the daughter of the late Johnny Clay Burks and Lula Mae Turner Burks. She married the late Edward Elmore on February 21, 1953. Mrs. Elmore was employed by Tyson Bearings Inc. in Glasgow for over 20 years. She was devoted to her family and friends, who will miss her dearly. She was known for her quilting & home-style cooking, especially her fried chicken, fried apple pies and her Chocolate Meringue Pies. Later on in her life she found a passion for reading. She would read everything she could get her hands on, to include the entire daily times and her collection of cookbooks. She was a member of the Dover Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Rita Sanders (Steve) of Lebanon, IN and Sandy Mackanos of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; 4 grandchildren Elizabeth Stoner (Kevin), Justin Sanders both of IN, Lindsey Mackanos of GA and Tyler Mackanos of FL; 2 great grandchildren Colin and Lincoln Stoner of IN; 1 brother Gene Burks (Alene) of Bowling Green; 1 son in law Don 'Mac' Mackanos of FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by 4 brothers Edward, Ottis, Oddas, Phillip Burks; 3 sisters Ruth Flowers, Beatrice Eaton and Ruby Burks. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Saturday August 15, 2015 at Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday after 11:00am at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
