Maurice E. Wolfe, 85, of Glasgow, KY, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born at Merry Oaks, KY, the son of the late William Henry Wolfe and Ora Mae Hawkins Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe was a veteran of WWII where he served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Harry Lee in the South Pacific. As a local businessman, he was the manager of the Standard Farm Store in Glasgow for 36 years and was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Maurice also was a member of the Glasgow Rotary Club, honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Loving Masonic Lodge at Fountain Run, KY. Maurice loved spending time with his family and friends and was known to always have a joke, riddle or rhyme to share. His good-hearted nature was extended to strangers as well, making friends in nearby counties who regularly traveled to the Standard Farm Store to do business. Maurice was devout in his faith and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and service to others. He is survived by his wife Mary Margaret Williams Wolfe; two daughters Cheryl Gibson and husband Gary of Danville, KY, and Lisa Travis and husband Thomas of Lexington, KY, and five grandchildren, Mary Quinn Ramer (Jay), Simms Kerbaugh (Jennifer) and Martha Kerbaugh all of Danville, KY, and Tom and Lauren Travis of Lexington, KY. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, July 23, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Friday morning until time for the service. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Glasgow Baptist Church, 401 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141 or your favorite charity or organization.
