Max Earl Durham, 89, of Austin, KY passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home. Max was born on June 30, 1931 to the late Earl Max Durham and Lela Mae Britt Durham. He was a lifelong member of Concord Baptist Church where he often led singing in past years. Max served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After returning home, he married his love, started his family, and began his barbering career. For 50 years he welcomed all walks of life to come in for stories, checkers, knife trading, or a song. No one could put a smile on faces quite like Max. His distinctive voice sang everything from country to his beloved gospel every chance he had. No doubt he sang his way through the pearly gates to meet his dear lord. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his five children whom he loved dearly, Mark Durham, Trisha Rigsby (Harold), Tawnya Lascala, Tim Durham (Kim), and Angie Smith all of Glasgow; grandchildren, Jessica Durham, Ashleigh Durham, Katelyn Bolinger, Anne Claire Saltsman, Madison and Michaela Smith, Shahn Rigsby, Susan Rigsby, and Laura Orsland; several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Sue Williams Durham; his sisters, Audrey Wyatt, Mabel Eaton, Elsie Wood, and infant sisters, Shirley, and Thelma. A private family service will be held 12:00pm Thursday, February 25th at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Union #1 Cemetery in Fountain Run, KY. For those not able to attend, the service will be live streamed at 12:00pm Thursday at www.facebook.com/crowfuneralhome. A. F.
